I am now working on a Haider Ackermann illustration. 

I always scan my black and white drawings before painting them. 

But I am not sure which scans I prefer, the darker or lighter scans. 

What do you think?

Chris Benz Fall 2012

(From FashionEtc review) “I definitely do love a good musical,” Benz told FashionEtc. “We were looking at all this old footage of Judy Garland and Dolly Parton and all those old Christmas specials from the ‘60s and ‘70s, and we were really trying to recreate that spirit for our girl.

The scan

“For Fall, we were loving the idea of dressing up again,” he said. “Everybody really understands how to be casual, but there’s something to be said for dressing up to go some place.”

Now all the Benz girl needs is somewhere to go, because with this collection, she’s got plenty to wear: sequined floral tunics, layered scarves and petticoats, trim little trousers and bright jackets, touches of fur, and plenty of ebullient prints, all put together with that magpie, more-is-more styling sensibility that Benz has become known for.

Ann Demeulemeester Spring 2012

Isabelle Eberhardt was a Swiss writer who traveled extensively in North Africa in the late nineteenth century. She usually wore men's clothing, because she had more freedom of movement that way. In one photograph from her brief life, Eberhardt is dressed as a sailor. This woman inspired Ann Demeeulemeester's Spring 2012 collection.

The creature Demeulemeester created was part androgyne, part decadent, a poetic hybrid of East and West. Demeulemeester imagined a European wardrobe "infected" by the tribal dress her explorer encountered. That might start with something subtle like a striped, tailored blazer with tassels dangling off its buttons, or a trenchcoat de-structured till it was a soft kimonolike wrap. In the middle somewhere, there were slouchy openwork knits and a jacket over-embroidered to look utterly exhausted. Then came the more exotic pieces: the black silk tulle caftan with a trim of beads, the embroidered waistcoat with a trail of fringes. A sheer asymmetrical top and skirt appeared in an ombré that evoked a dust storm.

Paper

I changed the paper for ordered prints from my Etsy shop. I now print on A4 Bio Top 3 paper, 250grams. Looking good!

Vionnet Resort

The cold weather outside makes me dream of warmer climates, travel, colours and blooming nature.

Visits to India, Africa and Japan informed Vionnet’s 2012 resort collection. Color-blocked tunics and dresses in vivid combinations like purple and gold, and orange and white, were reminiscent of 1960s Courrèges as well as of origami and effortless draping. Beautiful!

I am back

Hiya everyone!
I am back from my holidays in The Philippines. Need to unpack, do laundry and all such things but I hope to get back to the drawingtable this weekend. So much inspiration and ideas...so hope to post something again soon. Apologies for the lack of updates on this blog. But I am BACK!

Maison Michel

One of the most famous French couture millinery brands Maison Michel  is renowned in fashion circles for its handcrafted approach to hat design and production. Founded in 1936 and now owned by Chanel, this beloved French label continues to offer the finest headwear and accessories to women the world over.

Maison Michel has enlisted Russian model Sasha Pivovarova to star in the Fall Winter 2011 lookbook. The accessories house is now operated by Chanel in Paris that is why we find behind the lens Karl Lagerfeld.
