I adore Pugs! As soon as I move to a bigger place with a garden and spent less hours away from home, I am getting one. They are adorable. In the meanwhile I will make do with a drawing :-)

Okay so this isn't from the new collection, but I so love Miu Miu's 2010 Fall collection. It is very 1960's so still very much on trend (modtrend, colour, shiftdresses). 

I love BOWS! Everything is cooler with a bow. ;-)

Vivienne Westwood

I love Vivienne Westwood's designs. I love their edge and Vivienne herself ofcourse is an icon in every way. 

I just had to draw THIS portrait of Vivienne Westwood!  

Career highlights: In 1989, Mr. John Fairchild, president of Fairchild publications and editor of the fashion bible Women’s Wear Daily, listed Vivienne Westwood as one of the six most influential designers in the world in his book Chic Savages.

In 1990, Vivienne Westwood was awarded the prestigious title of British designer of the year.

In 2006, her contribution towards British fashion was officially recognized when she was appointed a Dame.

In 2007, Westwood was rewarded with the Outstanding Achievement in Fashion at the British Fashion Awards in London.

Vivienne Westwood is a trustee of Liberty and continues to uses the medium of her shows to talk about culture and politics, more specifically about the urgent need to act against climate change.

Sanne Schepers at Amsterdam International Fashion Week 2011

At Amsterdam International Fashion Week, Sanne Schepers won the G-star Raw Award during the Lichting 2011 show. 

Lichting is an annual show where seven Dutch fashion schools pick their best two graduating students to show their collection. The G-Star Raw Talent Award went to Sanne Schepers of ArtEZ in Arnhem. She iinspired with her collection which was based on the twin-set. She designed skirts below the knee that were attached to the tops in ingenious ways. Each item can be worn inside out, so it can turn into four different outfits. She used bright colours such as red, yellow and green. Praise! And congratulations!

Individuals @ Amsterdam International Fashion Week SS 2012

Amsterdam International Fashion Week is in full swing. 

Individuals is an ever changing collective of young creatives. 

The Individuals students presented their 11th collection, named Nature’s Child Consummation Est.

The collection shows a place where two different worlds meet; those of freedom and restriction.

This translates into airy draperies and organic prints in contrast with clothes that fit like a glove, skintight. This creates a constant tension in which constructed and flowy silhouettes complement eachother. 

All the clothing is made from sustainable materials.

Dior haute couture collection Winter 2011

Dior, the Parisian house known for untouchably chic and bold designs has yet to choose a successor for Galliano, who was fired from his role as top designer in March after a video surfaced of him making anti-Semitic comments at a Parisian bar.

In his absence, studio head and longtime Galliano collaborator Bill Gaytten put together an eclectic collection.

Gaytten, helped by assistant Suzanna Venegas, gave an ecclectic show, with lots of different styles and influences. This to me was the weak point of the show, it lacked unity.
But I love all the colour and there is still the Dior touch there.

My favourites were the long flowing gowns with arms like wings! Superb!

Stripes

I found a great photoshoot in Dutch Grazia magazine.
I love stripes and colour, so this popped out at me.
It's a striped sweater by River Island, shorts by Vanessa Bruno and hat also River Island.

 

This one is from the same shoot, only I tried my Copic markers again and no pencil. Not sure I like markers. I prefer watercolours and pencil.

Remember the sketch from a few days ago. Well I got a chance to paint it with watercolour and add a bit of sunshine with Photoshop.

Easter

HAVE A DOLCE (& Gabbana) EASTER!

When I think of Easter, I think of Easteregg hunts. A friend of mine has been organising an Easteregghunt for years now. We all gather in a park, look for eggs and end the hunt with drinks and lunch somewhere. It is always good fun.

Fashionwise when I think of Spring, the Dolce Gabanna Spring 2011 Campaign immediately sprung to mind.  So that inspired me to do this watercolourpainting.

The D&G ad campaign is colorful and fresh. I twas photographed by the wonderful Mario Testino.The collection was inspired by gardens and flowers and features bright and colorful floral and checkered prints.

Unfortunately my friends and I don't wear airy clothes like this with Easter (I remember one Easter with a snowstorm!). But who knows. Anything is possible.

Gucci Fall 2011 | Milan Fashion Week

Gucci opened Milan Fashion Week with a fall 2011 showing which surprisingly stayed in the same vein as pre-fall’s glam seventies collection. And I love this. It is all very - well - glamorous.

Gucci designer Frida Giannini took on jewel toned hues of turquoise and fuchsia with fur accents and sheer shiffon floor-length gowns. Models strutted down the runway with oversize hats, dark shades, plum lips, tailored jackets, suede skirts, snakeskin blazers.

I adore the use of the beautiful rich!

A real shame about the fur being real.

Jill Stuart Fall 2011

For Fall, Jill Stuart was inspired by Heidi Specker's photos of the Black Forest in Germany. This reference came across in the collection via color-blocking in a palette of vibrant autumn hues—currant, teal, cognac, and emerald. And also in a more literal interpretatioon with owls and foxes on shift dresses and blouses.

It is not a secret that I adore owls, so I am absolutely in love with this collection. Also the colours are the colours I love. My colour type being Autumn.

Miu Miu Spring 2011

Miu Miu at Paris Fashion Week.

I love this collection. It is very young and lively with starry prints and bright colours. And it sure is pretty. There are influences from the 70's and 40's, but it all feels very modern.  Lots of graphic motifs appearing on belted, silk pleated dresses. There are explosive star shapes, swans, snakes and lightning bolts. Contrasts are found in the neon accents and leather jackets.

The shoes are amazing.  Strapped shoes in funky colours like neon and metallics.
