I Should Coco

Coco Rocha is s such a striking model, I love her face and posture. She’s been the face of popular advertising campaigns for some of the top fashion labels and beauty brands.

Coco has been lighting up the international runways since 2004, walking for some of the world’s foremost designers, from Anna Sui and Marc Jacobs to Stella McCartney and Emanuel Ungaro. In recent years, she has achieved supermodel status with partnerships with some of the industry’s biggest names and labels. Coco was named one of the top 30 models of the decade in 2009 by Vogue Paris. The following year, she was awarded Model of the Year in Paris at Marie Claire’s Prix d’Excellence and the Elle Style award for Model of the Year in London.

Coco is involved with several charities, and currently participates in the Seventeen Magazine Body Peace Council, where she helps promote healthy body image to young women. In June 2011, Coca and husband designer James Conran received awards for their philanthropic work at a fashion event in Manhattan.

This illustration is inspired by the February cover shoot of Flare Magazine (photograph by Chris Nicholls).

Michelle Williams

Original photograph from ELLE

Oscar-nominated actress Michelle Williams was one of the few actresses who displayed the talent and drive to parlay success on a primetime teen drama into a career as a respected film actress. She spent six seasons on the flagship adolescent offering, "Dawson's Creek" (The WB, 1998-2003), while spending her summers building a fan base of independent film fans in smart, dark comedies and dramatic explorations of the twenty-something experience. Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2012

Dolce & Gabbana offer up a showing of their signature lacework for the label’s spring 2012 collection. Designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana also add floral and fruit prints, crystal embellished bodices and twill suits to their feminine showing.

While scarf prints were all over Dolce & Gabbana’s D&G line, the brand opened their Spring 2012 collection with fruits, flowers, and veggies. Cucumbers, red peppers, onions, and even eggplants were spied on sharp dresses and separates with 50′s silhouettes. Undergarments peeked out from under sheer appliquĂ©d lace garments in baby blue, navy, and white.

Dolce & Gabbana hop from fruit to lace to candy like decorations all at once and it is marvelous! It just screams SPRINGTIME!!

And all that jazz...

Ralph Lauren devoted his collection to the literary classic, “The Great Gatsby.” The runway was dominated by an Easter parade of floral prints and lovely pastel colours. The cloth hats, bias-cut dresses, column gowns, chiffon skirts, flowy trousers and three-piece pinstriped suits epitomized the Ralph Lauren feminine/masculine narrative.

The 1920s were a time of reform, a time of change. Morals were broken, stereotypes were ignored, and the true modern woman emerged. These women known as “flappers” flaunted their free spirits and their fashionable tastes. This spring this period’s unique style are emerging. From Ralph Lauren to Marchesa. And I absolutely LOVE it!

In Ralph Lauren's designs there is a remembrance of the jazz, the dancing, the rights, and the freedom of this past period of history. Can't you just picture yourself in the midst of the flappers as they danced the Charleston or Lindy?

Haider Ackermann Fall Winter 2011/2012

I love love Haider Ackermann's Fall Winter (2011/12) collection!  Inspired by Lord Byron with dramatic lushious materials and long flowy robes and tunics.

The collection features beautiful ensembles that layered different elements of black. Watteau-backed jackets and coats swung over satin-collared dressing gowns and hip-slouched pants, or skirts cut in artful spirals. The monochromatic looks were subtly punctuated with single elements of white, building to an all-white outfit, and eventually with elements of amethyst or mallard. Other looks were colored in extraordinary tonal nuances, like layerings of teal green, forest green, kingfisher blue, and deep jade, for example.

Ackermann's runway looks may combine hieratic drama with ineffable cool, but they are composed of thoughtfully considered pieces—a hard tailored blazer, or a soft-draped dressing-gown coat; liquid dresses and blouses; a stiff shantung pant or a billowing sarouel that, when disassembled, will play to a multitude of tastes. It certainly does to mine!
