Tilda Swinton

Today I did a drawing with pen and marker. But I guess I am more of a pencil and watercolour person, but still always good to do something else every now and then. And the colours are nice and bold, just like the woman in the picture.

This is a drawing of the superb Tilda Swinton (original pic from Candy Magazine).

She's often snapped fresh-faced, without a scrap of make-up. So after a drag queen makeover British actress Tilda Swinton is barely recognisable in the issue of Candy Magazine. Celebrating 'transvestism, transexuality, cross dressing and androgyny, in all its manifestations' the publication features the 51-year-old sporting eyelash extensions, lashings of eyeliner and fake nails.

Xevi Muntane
shot the cover and the coordinating photo story in the magazine, working with creative director Jerry Stafford. Together the two created a story called "The Transformer," which shows just how easily Swinton can switch from one persona to the next.y.

Over the years, Swinton has worked her androgynous style, appearing on the red carpet wearing either sophisticated gowns or tailored men’s suits. Describing her style influences as David Bowie and her father, Sir John Swinton, she told W Magazine last year: 'From childhood, I remember more about his black patent, gold livery, scarlet-striped legs, and medal ribbons than I do of my mother’s evening dresses. 'I would rather be handsome, as he is, for an hour than pretty for a week.'

Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2012

Dolce & Gabbana offer up a showing of their signature lacework for the label’s spring 2012 collection. Designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana also add floral and fruit prints, crystal embellished bodices and twill suits to their feminine showing.

While scarf prints were all over Dolce & Gabbana’s D&G line, the brand opened their Spring 2012 collection with fruits, flowers, and veggies. Cucumbers, red peppers, onions, and even eggplants were spied on sharp dresses and separates with 50′s silhouettes. Undergarments peeked out from under sheer appliquéd lace garments in baby blue, navy, and white.

Dolce & Gabbana hop from fruit to lace to candy like decorations all at once and it is marvelous! It just screams SPRINGTIME!!

Karlie Kloss for H&M

Just playing and sketching with markers. They will never be my favourite medium.
Did this quick sketch of the new H&M Fall collection.
The dreadful Summerweather we are having is making me look at Fall clothing.

Flavia de Oliveira

Just returned from a wonderful long weekend in Berlin.

Very tired and feeling a bit rushed as I have a lot to do before going back to work tomorrow. But I really wanted to do a drawing today. So instead of painting I used marker for this quick drawing.
It is Flavia de Oliveira by Marcelo Krasilcic for Elle Italia.

Parents

This morning I did this sketch of my mother and my stepfather.
My mother looks bigger because she is closer in the picture.
I hope they like it.

Aviator

I really like sheerling lined aviator jackets.
And bowler hats!
So this picture popped out at me on Lookbook.nu. Only now I cannot find it anymore, so I cannot credit the person who took the original photograph I based my illustration on. I will as soon as I find it.

House of Holland

I'm not having the best day to draw. I have had a huge headache for days now and I am a bit distracted.
But tomorrow is my birthday and I am baking cupcakes! And while there are in the oven, I watched some more London Fashion Week videos and was inspired to draw a model in a House of Holland dress sitting on a cupcake.
At the London Fashion Week Henry Holland showed a collection of metallics, plissé, ruffles and bananaleave prints. His Spring/Summer collection is very 70's but with a Holland touch.
This is a light blue dress with metallic stars and large pockets and yes pompom earrings!!

Jason Wu SS 2011

Just watched a video of Jason Wu at New York Fashion week and did this illustration of one of the dresses.

For this season, sheer has been consistent thusfar and Wu did not disappoint, having created dresses and shirts with one of the new “it” features. For inspiration, Wu said he’d looked to the seventies and forties, and the vivid floral paintings of the Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes. The flowers and the color brought out print dresses with multi-petaled skirts, silk city sarongs, and chiffon blouses.

I especially love this petal dress:

Dior Fall Winter 2010-2011

Leaves are falling, shops are full of winterclothes.

Inspired to make a Fall-Winter illustration. And I adore the new collection for Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 by Dior Gorgeous sheer airy fabrics and flowing designs look very womanly, while chic fur and leather details add to the glamour.

Accessory-wise for me the classy hats stand out, very elegant and sophisticated.

Just finished this drawing of the fabulous Zooey Deschanel.
I love her films, voice and music.

Also did a little Photoshopping. Added the cute Cardinal bird and background.

Iris van Herpen @ AIFW

Iris van Herpen presented a breathtaking collection at this year's Amsterdam International Fashion Week. She opened the event on July 14th with ten looks called 'Crystallization'. The whole SS11 collection will be shown at the London Fashion Week in September. The looks represent the transformation from water to crystal, from fluid chaos to a solid structure.

Lanvin

From the Lanvin Spring/Summer 2010 line.
The colour should  be coral. Need to do some Photoshopping. I blame all the orange of the World Cup Football. Orange is the Dutch colour. So seen enough of that colour to last me a long time.

Bottega Veneta

A sketch of a Fall 2010 creation by Bottega Veneta.
A red leather top and red skirt. I love the return of red this Fall.
