Charles Anastase's personal style might be described as romantic Lolita meets space age geek girl, with a liberal dash of classic Brit-rocker style for added spice. His brand of whimsical elegance has attracted an impressive roster of celebrity devotees. Fans of his work include Roisin Murphy, Winona Ryder, Keira Knightley, Christina Ricci, Chloe Sevigny, Emma Watson and Beth Ditto.

Though he only has five years behind him as a professional designer, Charles has emerged as a distinctive voice in the London fashion community and beyond. Charles currently lives in London, and sells his clothes through trendy local boutiques as well as international retailers.

Halina Reijn

This morning I did this drawing of Halina Reijn.

I think she is great. Such a talented actress!
Besides her acting I also love her books and in interviews she always is so real, so open.
She is strong but with a vulnerable side which she isn't afraid to let shine through.

I also adore her style. She is crazy about dresses like I am. I hardly ever wear trousers.

Fiona Hering

Today I decided to draw Fiona Hering. She is a Dutch fashion journalist. She writes for  Glamour and once a week she gives fashionnews on television programme RTL Boulevard.

I just adore her columns and articles. They are so recognizable and spontaneous. Not aloof like some fashionwriters can be.

Viktor & Rolf SS2010

Okay I am very late with this one, but I was flipping through some old magazines and I just really wanted to draw this dress and beautiful tulle Flowerbomb perfume bottle. Want want want!

So this is from Viktor and Rolf’s SS10 collection. The show was amazing (Find it on YouTube, Roisin Murphy performed) and the Dutch duo apperently hacked away at their dresses with a chainsaw. Literally. "With the credit crunch and everybody cutting back, we decided to cut tulle ball gowns," Snoeren said.
Truly fabulous both in conception and execution.

Atonement - THE green dress

I love love love this dress. Never got round to a drawing it. Had an hour to "kill" this morning, so put it to good use.
It is from the film Atonement and worn by Keira Knightley.

 From the Press Association: ‘The emerald green dress worn by Keira Knightley in Atonement has been voted the best film costume of all time.

   ‘The bias-cut, backless silk gown had fashion editors raving when it first appeared on screen last year.
   ‘Knightley’s character, Cecilia Tallis, wore it during a pivotal scene in Joe Wright’s period drama.

   The survey was done for Sky Movies and British InStyle. Following Knightley’s dress were:

Saying farwell to the fight agains AIDS? I don't think so!

Worldwide 33 million people are hiv infected. Every year 2 million of them die. Our government is making drastic cuts in the money that goes to the international battle against AIDS. Unbelievable! Because the Dutch AIDS aid works: it has saved hundreds of thousand of lives. These cut downs are going to cost 180.000 people their lives! Please don't let The Netherlands say goodbye to Aids control and wake up the government/parliament by signing the condolance card.

Ian Somerhalder

And for the lack of males on this blog I just did this drawing of Ian Somerhalder.
Ian played Boone in Lost and is now portraying the deliciously hot vampire Damon Salvatore in The Vampire Diaries.

He began modeling at age 10, modeled for Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabanna, Gucci, Versace and Guess (Was the face of Guess? for two consecutive fall seasons).

Anyway. This is the sketch I did:

The band Suede is back on tour. One of the bandmembers is Neil Codling and he will be celebrating his 37th birthday at Paradiso Amsterdam this year.

Emma Watson

I must admit, I have only seen one Harry Potter film and keep telling myself to catch up, perhaps one day I will.
But I have noticed Emma Watson changing into a beautiful and stylish young woman.
My eye fell on a photograph of her new hairdo in the latest Dutch Elle. And I love it. I love pixiecuts. With eyes like Emma it looks stunning and fresh. I hope many follow her example.
I have had short hair for 20 years, this is the first time in that long that my hair has peeped passed shoulder lenght. I must admit I may go back to my pixie cut soon.

Christmas Queen of Hearts

My watercolours were beckoning me this morning.
I saw this cute red dress in H&M yesterday.
It is part of H&M's seasonal partywear, so I decided to give it a little seasonal twist by giving the model a mistletoe in her hands. But without it, it could be a Valentine illustration.

Lanvin hearts H&M

Lanvin is the latest brand to collaborate with H&M, with previous collections designed by the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Comme des Garçons and Sonia Rykiel.

The label's creative director, Alber Elbaz, who designed the range, appears to have been faithful to his promise that it would not just be a 'dress for less'. Elbaz explained that his aim was to add a luxury product to the H&M range, rather than taking Lanvin downmarket.

The collection also has some fabulous shoes.

Office **** with a heart of gold. Don't you just love Mad Men?! I do. I love the storyline, the era, but especially the design of the clothes and the sets. Like going back in time. I now crave pussy bows, figure hugging dresses and pencil skirts. I even wear a pen around my neck now, like she does. I am after all a secretary as well ;-) Christina Hendricks, the actress who plays the fiery and voluptuous Joan is gorgeous. Don't we all want those curves and that beautiful red hair?

Cacharel S/S 2011

The Cacharel collection by Cédric Charlier was super pink, and cute, with sweater-knit tanks, anoraks, sportif romper/shirtdress combos, camp shirts and long, fluid silk dresses that were shown in increasingly bright shades of pink and tennis-ball yellow. There were only a few prints, which looked like digitally enlarged splatters of paint and ink stains.

animalprint

I have never been very fond of animalprints in fashion or interior design. But I am slowly warming to this trend and I can see that if used in moderation it can spice up an outfit. As long as it isn't used all over and combined with bleached hair, a fake dark tan and lots of gold jewelery, it can be quit classy.
I love this hat!

Louis Vuitton Catwalk Fashion Show Paris SS2011

For Louis Vuitton Marc Jacobs presented a collection with a disco-chic vibe.

He gave the collection a bit an oriental feeling by adding shiny Eastern-inspired designs. Gracefully tailored trousers and body hugging dresses moved like waves around the models, with sequin cummerbunds tied at the waist (or in some cases at the hip), recreating the traditional kimono silhouette.

I absolutely adore all the colours, perhaps a bit campy, but hey I like a bit of that!

Autumn Red (work in progress)

I love red hair. I dye mine red, but I so envy women with lots of beautiful red curls. This image from the latest Dutch Elle grabbed me because of the strong look and the mirrored images. I mixed two images into one.

I left the drawing sketch-like and added just a bit of watercolour (not all the way through), to give it a more playful look. I gave it a green background for an autumnal look. But I am thinking about changing the background to a pattern. But will do that some other day. 7.30 pm and I need to eat.

Did this crayon drawing, inspired by a Marie Jo- advertorial and gave it my own twist.

This morning I did this sketch of my mother and my stepfather.

My mother looks bigger because she is closer in the picture.
I hope they like it.
