House of Holland

I'm not having the best day to draw. I have had a huge headache for days now and I am a bit distracted.
But tomorrow is my birthday and I am baking cupcakes! And while there are in the oven, I watched some more London Fashion Week videos and was inspired to draw a model in a House of Holland dress sitting on a cupcake.
At the London Fashion Week Henry Holland showed a collection of metallics, plissé, ruffles and bananaleave prints. His Spring/Summer collection is very 70's but with a Holland touch.
This is a light blue dress with metallic stars and large pockets and yes pompom earrings!!

Jason Wu SS 2011

Just watched a video of Jason Wu at New York Fashion week and did this illustration of one of the dresses.

For this season, sheer has been consistent thusfar and Wu did not disappoint, having created dresses and shirts with one of the new “it” features. For inspiration, Wu said he’d looked to the seventies and forties, and the vivid floral paintings of the Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes. The flowers and the color brought out print dresses with multi-petaled skirts, silk city sarongs, and chiffon blouses.

I especially love this petal dress:

Dior Fall Winter 2010-2011

Leaves are falling, shops are full of winterclothes.

Inspired to make a Fall-Winter illustration. And I adore the new collection for Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 by Dior.  Gorgeous sheer airy fabrics and flowing designs look very womanly, while chic fur and leather details add to the glamour.

Accessory-wise for me the classy hats stand out, very elegant and sophisticated.

Just finished this drawing of the fabulous Zooey Deschanel.
I love her films, voice and music.
I am not used to drawing with markers and practise is needed. I hope to get the hang of it it.
Also did a little Photoshopping. Added the cute Cardinal bird and background.

The veiled lady

Did this drawing in Photoshop this morning.
Practising. Not bad I think for someone who is completely new to Photoshop. Taking tutorials and practise, practise practise.

Do the bustle

From Marie Claire, September 2010
Love this tulle skirt!

Tulle takes its name from the French city Tulle, where it has been made since around 1700. The fabric has a sparse weave - delicate, transparent and veil-like - composed of very fine threads that form a hexagonal weave.
Jacket and pants by Versace
Skirt by Paul Smith
Shoes by Louboutin
Bag and bracelet by Hermès
Beret by Stephen Jones
Tights by Wolford

Mad Women

I just adore the Mad Men inspired fashion.

Louis Vuitton's Fall2010 campaign sets the spotlights on the 40′s, 50′s retro vibe of ultra-glam femmes, in diva-ish gear with full skirts and nipped in waists. Wearing full-out glamourous accessories and dressed to the hilt at all hours.

Prada's Fall 2010 collection was heavy, full, and ultimately classic. The fifties and early-sixties influences were obvious to say the least: cat's eye glasses, beehives, and hourglass silhouettes will have fans of  Mad Men enthralled.

Who else could take a long, lean skirt in sumptuous floral-print duchesse silk, pair it with an oversized, sleeveless sweatshirt and make the mismatched ensemble the height of chic? Yes it is Dries van Noten.
Van Noten weaved disparate elements – from rough canvas fabrics in military drab to fancy, matador-style silver embroidery – into a gorgeous, toned-down collection. An indigo stain spread down one bottle-shaped cocktail dress with a nipped waist, making the floral silk look as if it had been on the receiving end of a bottle of India ink. (In fact, it had. Van Noten said his team brushed on layer after layer of indigo paint onto the silk.)
